Welcome to a new little series where I share an overview and my thoughts of a certain brand, basically just me rambling about it. Today I what to talk about NYX Cosmetics. I have used quite a few NYX products, a lot of which I no longer have so they couldn’t make a photo appearance but I’m going to talk about them anyway.
I was trying to remember what my first NYX products were and I believe it was the Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer that I purchased on the recommendation of a fellow blogger a couple of years ago, and while it was a decent primer it was quite expensive for a drugstore primer at $16, and didn’t work well enough for me to want to repurchase it.
That doesn’t mean all NYX primers aren’t worth the bother, I absolutely loved the Studio Perfect primers. They reminded me a lot of the Smashbox Photo Finish primer and would make a perfect dupe, and I have repurchased it several times.
I just picked up the HD Finishing Powder and the HD Photogenic Concealer last week and I’m still forming my opinions on them. So far I quite like the powder but I’m a bit disappointed in the concealer, it is quite nice and bright, but the coverage isn’t as good as I would expect from a concealer especially one I use under my eyes.
I have also really enjoyed the Hight Definition Blushes, I have on matte and one that had a touch of shimmer and they are both beautiful to use.
The Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam is another of NYX’s products that is a great dupe. I did a post about it ages ago comparing it to the Benefit High Beam Liquid Highlighter and honestly, it was hard for me to find a difference except of course the price.
As far as eyeshadows go I have The Natural Shadow palette and The Adorable Shadow palette, both or fairly neutral but Adorable has a little more diversity with pink, shimmers and more dark shades. While these are not the best quality shadows I’ve ever used they are great for simple quick looks, or on the go, as they have all the shades you need in a small package.
The Prismatic Shadows are absolutely gorgeous! I have two, neither of which I use often because of the color but there is no denying that they are great shadows. I have the shades Bedroom Eyes and Punk Heart.
NYX makes some absolutely amazing lip products! I have talked about the Soft Matte Lip Creams before and they are still one of my favorite lips products, they have all the charm of a liquid lipstick without being dry.
In my search to find a liquid lipstick I liked I tested out the Lip Lingerie in the shade Lace Detail. While this was one of the better liquid lipstick I have tried I still didn’t really like it, this was mainly due to the color being a way to light for me.
The Butter Glosses are one of my favorite lipglosses, they feel so lovely on the lips, not sticky or gooey, just glossy and smooth. I need to pick up some more of these as I have been loving lipgloss lately.
Another lip product I really want to get more of is the Butter Lipstick. They are a gorgeous creamy satin lipstick that melts onto the lips.
I have also used one of their eyeliners, but I don’t remember which one but I did really like it.
My overall thoughts on NYX is that they are an amazing drugstore brand that I highlight recommend, and have recommended to lots of people. The quality is almost always there and I know I haven’t use a ton of their products but I’m excited to use more.
What are some of your favorite NYX products?
