So as some of you may know I had a birthday last month, my twentieth to be exact, and it has become a custom that on my birthday we go on a shopping trip to the nearest mall that has all the necessary stops that a beauty blogger might want to make on her birthday. Those stops are of course Ulta, Sephora, and Lush.
Our first stop was actually Trader Joe’s one because it was near the restaurant I always have lunch at on my birthday, and two I wanted Joe Joes. Now if you have never had Joe Joes think of golden Oreo’s and then imagine them being a hundred times better and there you have Joe Joes.
TRADER JOE’S Pumpkin Body Butter
The only thing I bought myself at Trader Joe’s was this pumpkin body butter, I haven’t used much on Trader Joe’s skincare but since this was pumpkin I had to try it.
I love this body butter, it’s thick, creamy, and makes my hands feel brand new. I only have one problem with it, it doesn’t smell like pumpkins, in fact, banana is the only ingredient that you can smell at all.
In Ulta I picked up a couple of things I have had my eye on, I wanted to get the L.A Girl foundation but they were out of my shade. I also came really close to getting the Tarte Magic Star Collectors set but felt a little uncomfortable spending fifty dollars on it, so I asked my family to keep it in mind for Christmass.
I also got picked up one of the Sally Hansen Argan Oil Formula Color Therapy polishes, but I forgot to photograph it for this post…..oops. I got the color 110 Well, Well, Well, which is a pure white
Oh my goodness! I love the Sugar Crush range SO MUCH! It just smells so perfect, it’s light, tangy, and refreshing, and smells like happiness……enough said.
I feel like I have heard good things about this mascara, I know when I saw it in the store something in the back of my mind said “that’s one I’ve heard is good! I must buy it!” Yeah, my mind might say that a lot.
Anyway, I haven’t used this yet but you can be sure I will let you know my thoughts either on here or on my Instagram (@sparkelofgrace).
I have been wanting to try the MR Chocolate Bar palettes for ages, and I had a hard time deciding which one to finally settle on, but I’m so happy with my choice in this one. I have been using this every time I have worn makeup since I got it and I’m absolutely in love with it.
This palette contains sixteen shadows with a mix of matte and shimmer and the shades are perfect for my makeup style. There is a review of this palette in the works, so if you want to see swatches and such be sure to check back in a couple of weeks.
Of course, the main reason I wanted to get to Ulta was to collect the birthday gift. I have to admit to having been the tiniest bit disappointed that this month was the Superhero mascara, that’s no fault of the mascara it’s just that I have several minis of it rolling around already. Although, if you have been reading A Sparkle Of Grace for awhile you will probably know that I do really like this mascara so it will be put to good use.
I don’t get the chance to go to Lush very often because the nearest one is over an hour away, so my mom promised to take me there on my birthday and buy me a couple of bath bombs. I ended up just getting two because I get really overwhelmed when there are so many choices.
The main reason I picked up this bomb was that it was adorable, but I actually just used this bath bomb over the weekend and it was so nice! It has a warm, spicy yet slightly sweet scent, the strongest of the scents was the cloves.
When this was dropped into the water it started to color it a bright pink, but as it dissolved you could see that is had a bright yellow center. In the end, the water was a reddish orange.
Again, I bought this because it was adorable, I mean it looks like a little present!
I’m really excited to use this one because of the description of it.
“Fancy an uplifting cocktail? Zesty cognac and lime oils get this bath party started with their mood-brightening scents while sweet orange oil refreshes your senses. In the water, this present-shaped fizzer unwraps itself to reveal glittering golden luster and a sparkling turquoise explosion.”
I picked up a sample of this moisturizer because I wanted to try it, but I was too cheap to buy it. I actually haven’t used it yet, but I will be checking in with you over on Insta to let you know my thoughts before too long.
Sephora was really busy when we were there, so I felt like I just wanted to get in and out as fast as possible, that and I wasn’t feeling all that well. So made a beeline for what I wanted to get.
I have been wanting to try this for ages, I loved the foundation so I had high hopes for this concealer. I bought this in a shade to light which rarely happens, but since I was planning on just using this as an under eye concealer that isn’t really a big problem.
I won’t talk too much about this product because I want to do a full review post of my thoughts on, but so far I’m really loving it. It has a light, comfortable feel, and the shade is great for my undereye.
TARTE Hight-Performance Naturals *Birthday Gift*
This was one of the two cute little Beauty Insider birthday gifts, I think the other one was Keihl’s. This was such great little set, both the blush and the liquid lipstick are lovely neutral shades that work really well with my coloring. The blush is in the shade Paaarty, it is a really pretty light matte pink. The liquid lipstick is in the shade Birthday Suite, which is a warm dusty rose color.
I had quite a few points built up, so I actually got two to free bonus items. I picked this one because I have used it before and really liked it, it’s a moisturizer that doubles as a primer. I find that gives my foundation a smooth natural look, it also smells like sweet oranges, so yeah, it’s great.
JACK BLACK Clean Break Oil-Free Moisturizer
This is the second product I got with my points, I haven’t actually used it yet, so I will be checking in with my thoughts when I do. The main reason I decided to get it was that I had never heard of the brand before and I’m always looking for a good moisturizer, looking at it on the Sephora website it seems that it’s meant for men, but if I’m honest I don’t really care.
I got this coat a couple of days later at TJ Maxx. I had seen this a couple of weeks before and fell in love with it, so after getting a couple of gift cards from my lovely friend I ran right out and bought it.
I’m completely in love with this coat. It is a beautiful style and the cut works well for my body shape. It’s a bit of a different style than my usual red winter wool coat, but it’s nice to switch things up now and then.
I wanted to have this post up closer to my actual birthday but time flew by and things happened, so it’s here now and maybe next year I’ll have it up on time.
Have a wonderful day!
