August Sephora Play!

I was sitting at my computer yesterday wondering what my next blog post was going to be when all of a sudden a little box showed up at my door like a black and white striped gift from above.

I’m super excited to share these months Play! box with you guys! This is got to be my favorite one yet.

So let’s get into it!

Included in the box is always a paper that on one side talks about the products and on the other usually has something random that I don’t pay much attention to. This time it has a cute little list of the elements of beauty and tells what sort of products they can be found in and what they do for your skin, which I think is really cool.

The bag is the usual white drawstring bag. This time the design isn’t my favorite, it has the word “Makeup Geek” in black letter, and a face and hands working with chemistry tools. There’s nothing wrong with it, I just don’t care for the art style.

Alterna Haircare Caviar Anti-Aging Miracle Multiplying Volume Mist

I’ve never heard of this brand before so I’m curious to try it out, and new hair care products are always welcome. It says this is a “Lightweight hair styling mist that adds volume and texture to hair while strengthening and softening for full, lustrous strands”

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick in Shell

I so excited to see an Hourglass product in the bag, Hourglass is one of those brands I have always wanted to try but have never gotten around to it. At first, I thought this foundation would be a little yellow for my skin-tone, but I used in this morning it is seemed to blend in just fine. Like I said I used it this morning, and I found that it gave me a good light-medium coverage that I think would be buildable but I didn’t want to use too much. The finish is glowing and comfortable.

BeautyBlender Micro-Mini Applicator Sponge

I’ve always been curious about trying the esteemed BeautyBlender but didn’t what to fall in love with something that expensive that I would have to replace every couple of months, so I can’t wait to try this out.

Lancer The Method Polish

I’m in need of a good exfoliator so this couldn’t have come at a better time. I haven’t used it yet so I can’t tell you how it works but the description says it’s an “effective skin-resurfacing treatment that uses natural plant enzymes and microdermabrasion crystals to reveal radiant skin”, so it sounds amazing.

Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Creme in L3 Warm

I was really excited to see this in the bag, I actually saw this concealer in TJ Maxx last week but the only shade they had was really dark. I’ve heard really good things about this concealer, and I used it under my eyes this morning and loved the results. It gave me a smooth comfortable coverage.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Perfume

I love the scent of this perfume, it’s a light, citrusy, fresh scent. It has notes of cedar, bluebell, white rose, jasmine, apple, and amber. The only problem I have is that it’s a lot like last month’s scent Orange Sanguine by Atelier Cologne.

Left/Right Kat Von D Concealer Creme/Hourglass  Stick Foundation

I’m so excited about all the product that I received this month and I can’t wait to try them all out and see if there as amazing as they look.

If you would like to see last month’s Play you can find it (here)

Have you tried any of these products?

  1. I keep meaning to try the Kat Von D foundation but like you say, never get round to it!

I love the idea of a box like this where you get to discover new brands and products! Xx

  2. I love that little element graphic design! I would want the KVD concealer and the Hourglass foundation. I did subscribe to Play! for a few months last year. Oh course, they always start sending the good products every time I cancel…
